Hotel Story
The desire to travel and the enthusiasm for art led Henning J. Claassen and his wife Helga to Ootmarsum a few years ago. Their favorite hotel "De Wiemsel" unfortunately went bankrupt in 2014. The enthusiasm for the place was so strong, that they decided to buy the hotel, completely renovated it, reopened it in 2015 and continued to renovate and expand it to this day. LOCATION & DIRECTIONS
The "Parkhotel de Wiemsel" is located in the eastern Netherlands, on the outskirts of the small town of Ootmarsum in the most picturesque area of the Twente region. We are located near the German border, between Enschede and Nordhorn. For guests arriving by car, we offer free parking and e-charging stations directly in front of the hotel.
THE GARDEN OF THE NETHERLANDS
...that's what the Twente region along the German-Dutch border is called. There are numerous cycling and hiking trails right outside the hotel. Bicycles and E-bikes are available for you to explore the green countryside. We are also happy to pack a lunch basket for a picnic! You can enjoy fascinating cultural history, whether in the venerable Singraven estate or in the traditional open-air museum. All of this is in the direct surroundings of our hotel.
OOTMARSUM - A LITTLE TOWN TO FALL IN LOVE WITH
The 700-year-old small artists' town of Ootmarsum with its tranquil traditional half-timbered facades is just a few minutes' walk from the Parkhotel. The small alleyways invite you to stroll and shop. Enjoy a relaxing coffee in a bistro and bask in the creativity of the town. Everywhere you go you will discover small galleries and boutiques with a wide variety of offerings.

Seaport Spyce
The owner of the Hotel, Henning J. Claassen, discovered a small perfumery on one of his sailing trips in the Gulf of Mexico, which composed personal scents in small editions. As a sailor, he had a fresh maritime Eau de cologne created, selected a very special bottle, with a sailboat engraved in the glass, had it wrapped by hand in a beautiful gift box and called it "Seaport Spyce".
